Journalists lathicharged outside CBI court

The Uttar Pradesh police lathicharged journalists outside the CBI court in Lucknow in which three TV cameramen and a still photographer were injured while don-turned-politician Babloo Srivastava was being produced.

The Uttar Pradesh police on Friday lathicharged journalists outside the CBI courtin Lucknow in which three TV cameramen and a still photographer were injured while don-turned-politician Babloo Srivastava was being produced.

According to Alok Pandey, Correspondent of Zee News, who sustained injuries, the incident took place outside the CBI court today at around 12.30 pm, when Superintendent of Police, Lucknow West Paresh Pandey allegedly ordered his men to lathicharge.

President of UP Accredited Correspondents Committee Pramod Goswami said "the cameraman of Times Now, Star News and Zee News along with a photographer of Indian Express sustained injuries as policemen let loose a reign of terror outside the court premises."

Later the journalists met the Additional Director General Law and Order, Brij Lal, who directed the DIG/SSP Lucknow NK Srivastava to look into the issue.

Brij Lal also assured journalists that each and every aspect of the incident will be thoroughly look into.
