Civil Judge Prahlad Singh, resident of MMS-1/80, State Bank Colony, Aliganj, stated in the FIR that he had fixed the marriage of his daughter with Surendra Singh Chauhan of Sarvodaya Nagar, Rae Bareli.

Chauhan, an engineer with a private firm in Delhi, had demanded a car when he gave consent for the marriage. Singh reportedly paid Rs 2.5 lakh for the same and had assured for rest of the amount at the time of the marriage.

He further said December 13 was the day fixed for the marriage ceremony and they were preparing to receive the baraat that day. Meanwhile, Chauhan’s aunt Guddi Singh called up Singh just a day before the marriage to say that they would reach for the marriage only after the bride’s father paid Rs 4 lakh in cash right away.

Singh had no option but to inform the police against the culprits and a case was registered into the matter. No arrest has been made till the reports last came in.
