In a press statement issued here today, Joshi said Mahatma Gandhi had rejected the proposal of partition and had even said that India could only be divided over his dead body. But, Pandit Jawharlal Nehru was vulnerable due to his greed for power and easily fell prey to the partition conspiracy.

He further said the Jan Sangh was not in existence at the time of Independence and the RSS had always wanted an undivided India. Arjun Singh’s charge holding Hindutva forces responsible for partition of India was unfounded and malicious and betrayed his nervousness at growing influence of the BJP in national polity, he said.

Arjun Singh has lost his credibility among the masses and he has become irrelevant in his own party, he added.
