One of the four men, who were gunned down by the police in Bhind district's Baknasa ravines on August 22 was a fighter in the Kargil war, alleged deputy leader of Opposition in the MP Assembly Chaudhary Rakesh Singh.
"Amjad Khan, who was shot dead for being 'dacoit', was in the Indian army for 10 years and took part in the 1999 Kargil war," he told reporters at the state Congress headquarter while addressing a press conference with Congress MLA from Bhind Govind Singh.
Khan's wife, Yasmin Khan, also talked to media here and appealed for justice.
"My husband was killed in cold blood by the Bhind police to get medals and promotions," she said.
Alleging that the Bhind police killed her husband in cold-blood, she said when he left home with the policemen her husband was not wearing khaki coloured clothes. But khaki dress was found on his body after the alleged encounter.
The Congress leaders demanded that a murder case be registered against superintendent of police and other police officials involved in the alleged fake encounter. They claimed killing of innocent people in fake encounters was nothing new for Bhind police.
Singh further said 15 such encounters were made in Bhind in past two years, out of which about half a dozen were fake. He demanded that a case under section 302 be registered against the erring police officers.

{{/usCountry}}Besides Amjad, three other youth Raju, Udal and Ravindra were also killed in the alleged fake encounters.
Based on media reports on the alleged fake encounter, the State Human Rights Commission said it will hold a separate inquiry into the case.
