Liquor flow from Goa is one of the worries for the Election Commission ahead of the May assembly polls in Karnataka.
The Commission has instructed observers and poll officials to specially look at possibilities of liquor flow from Goa.
Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami said that the Commission has received complaints from some political parties that breweries in Goa have "overwhelming orders and working overtime".
Gopalaswami was talking to reporters after addressing the poll observers deputed for the three-phased assembly polls in the state.
Karnataka is expected to witness a keen tussle between BJP and Congress with the H D Deve Gowda-led JD(S) also making it known that it was no pushover.
Observing that the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) coverage in the state stood at 57.72 per cent, he said that the EPIC coverage in urban areas like Bangalore municipal, urban and rural and Mysore corporation area was very low.
Nearly 1,000 mobile EPIC Centres have been pressed into service to increase the coverage, he said.
The CEC said that the Commission has also decided to use large number of Micro-Observers inside the polling stations to ensure purity of the polling process and also reduce dependency on Central Para Military Forces.
