Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister K Karunakaran on Saturday celebrated his 91st birthday at the famous Sreekrishna temple in Guruvayur.

The four time chief minister, who has had a chequered career in politics since the days of the freedom struggle, was greeted by his supporters and well-wishers on the occasion.

On reports that he was soon going to be appointed as Governor in a southern state, he said "I will let you know as soon as I get any information on that."
A major power centre of the Congress in Kerala for long, he had served as Union Minister briefly in P V Narasimha Rao government.
