Karunanidhi, who is also DMK president, is angered by Swamy’s threat to implicate him in his (Swamy's) court battle on the 2G episode.

Legal firm Raman and Associates sent notice to the Janata Party leader on behalf of Karunanidhi.

The legal notice took into consideration media reports quoting Swamy.

"Our client states that (the) statement made by you involving our client was motivated by your personal malice, political rivalry and clamour for cheap publicity. This statement is false … Our client further states that you have no knowledge of or information regarding the alleged involvement of our client in the so called 2G Spectrum case," the letter to Swamy said.

The statement was made "recklessly" with the intention of causing "serious injury" to Karunanidhi's image and reputation, the notice issued to Swamy's Chennai residential and official address said.

It said Karunanidhi is "acknowledged to be an elder statesman in Indian politics, besides being a five-time CM".
