Kashmir: 2 BSF men dead, 4 hurt in militant attack

Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and four others injured after militants opened fire at their vehicle near the air force base in the Quil area in Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and four others injured after militants opened fire at their vehicle near the air force base in the Quil area in Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

"The attack took place near the higher secondary school Quil which is a near the air force base. Two BSF personnel have been killed and four others injured," said a police spokesman based. "Six personnel sustained critical injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where two of them succumbed to injuries. The other four injured were shifted to the Army’s 92 Base hospital in Srinagar."

The police however denied that the Quil base could have been the target. "The vehicle on the road was attacked," he added.

The BSF provides external security to the IAF in the Awantipora airbase in Pulwama district. Security forces have cordoned the area and launched search to nab the attackers.

This is the third attack in the Pulwama district in the last week.
