Constable Shafiq Ahmad of the Special Operations Group (SOG) died on Tuesday night at the Soura Medical Institute in Srinagar. He was injured in the militant attack on the SOG camp at Imam Sahib near Shopian, about 60 km from Srinagar.
Sub-Inspector Sethi Ram was killed on the spot and four of his colleagues, including Ahmad, were injured when guerrillas fired a rifle grenade, which fell and exploded inside the camp on Tuesday afternoon.
Security forces surrounded the area around the camp early on Wednesday to conduct a search.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
