Rail run between south to north Kashmir via Srinagar, remained suspended for the eighth day today though the curfew restrictions had been lifted in the Kashmir valley after seven days.
However, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was open and air traffic was also normal.
"We are holding a meeting with security agencies on Saturday before resuming the rail service," a railway official told UNI.
"This time we do not want to take any chance. Untill we get security clearance the service will remain off track," he added.
The rail run between Qazigund in south Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir via Srinagar and Badgam was suspended because of curfew restrictions imposed in the Kashmir valley since February 9 as authorities apprehended violence following the hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in Delhi's Tihar jail.
There was security concern to suspend the rail run, they said adding that rail property worth crores of rupees was damaged during 2010 summer violence.
However, air service remained unaffected by the curfew restrictions as air tickets were being treated as curfew passes.
