Moderates and hardliner separatist leaders are a divided lot when it comes to provide a solution to the increasing tension between India and Pakistan along the border areas in state.
While moderates are asking both countries to sit and talk, hardliners accuse India of preparing for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir's "invasion".
"Major brunt of border tensions is to be borne by people of Kashmir living across the divided border. Apart from losing their lives and property, the inhabitants have to migrate in view of these tensions," a spokesman of the moderate Hurriyat, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said.
The Hurriyat urged the leadership of both countries "to take bold steps by initiating a dialogue process to solve the main source of confrontation, which is the Kashmir dispute".
Meanwhile, the moderate Hurriyat reiterated its support for a "meaningful tripartite dialogue between all stakeholders".
However, reflecting a divide within the moderate camp, National Front chairman Nayeem Khan, an associate of the Mirwaiz, described the cross-border firing at Line of Control as "a stage managed drama from India."

"India intends to invade Azad Kashmir (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir). On one pretext or the other, India is trying to discredit the ongoing movement and make Pakistan accountable at international forum," Geelani said.
Referring to the Keran operation, which lasted for 15 days, Geelani said: "It was stated that 22, out of 40 militants, were killed who invaded and occupied a border village. However, so far no bodies have been recovered."
Geelani warned that "till the Kashmir issue is not resolved, borders will remain tense".
The month of October witnessed the highest number of border clashes this year. Around two dozen Indian posts in Jammu areas have come under fire in the past one week.
