GULAM MOHAMMAD, the Kashmiri who was arrested by Dhar police on Tuesday for inciting communal feelings, had also stayed in Indore for some time.
According to sources, he had stayed in the Khajrana mosque while in the City and what surprised the police was that he had paper cutting of all major issues related to communal tension in the area.
During interrogation he told the police that he had been visiting the Khajrana masjid on and off over the months, but he was very vague regarding what he did during his visits to Indore. He also said that he has visited Ajmer (very frequently), Itrasi and Kota among other places over the years.
He had told police on Tuesday that his wife and daughter had been killed in cross firing at Kupwara bus stand in 1991, but the police are finding it difficult to believe that since they have not found any evidence of such an occurrence in 1991.
Moreover, the Army moved into Kashmir in 1994. When Gulam was asked what exactly he was doing while his wife and daughter were killed, he reportedly said that he was saving other people’s lives. When probed further as to why he chose to help others, leaving his own family at risk, he reportedly said, “I am like that only”.
Police are also curious about his finances. He had claimed on Tuesday that he used to make his ends meet by selling shawls and saris, but police have found no evidence that he did any such business.

Police are also trying to find out owners of the telephone numbers, which were found noted in a diary seized from him. Dhar police had arrested Ghulam, resident of Gulgam, district Kupwara, Kashmir, when he was inciting Muslims outside Dhar Bhojshala. He was booked under Section 153 (b).
