A CASE of fraud in sanctioning of road contract has been registered against three persons, including the city Mayor and Municipal Corporation Commissioner, following a court order, police said Sunday.
The case was registered on Saturday against Mayor Sandeep Jaiswal, Commissioner Ramesh Singh Baghel and sub-engineer Anil Jaiswal, for allegedly flouting rules in awarding contract for asphaltation of a road to a company above the standard operating rates, they said.
Following a petition by Congress corporator and Leader of Opposition in the corporation, Mithilesh Jain, Judicial Magistrate First Class Madhuri Raj Lalji had directed the police to book them on January 24, they said, adding a copy of the order was recently received.
Jaiswal and Baghel were not available for comments.
