Kolhapur Bandh: Ten buses damaged in stone pelting incidents

Ten buses of both Kolhapur Municipal Transport (KMT) and State Road Transport Corporaton were damaged in stone pelting incidents during 'Kolhapur Bandh' observed jointly by Hindu organisations and political parties today.

Ten buses of both Kolhapur Municipal Transport (KMT) and State Road Transport Corporaton were damaged in stone pelting incidents during 'Kolhapur Bandh' observed jointly by Hindu organisations and political parties today.

About 150 members of Hindu organisations and political parties were detained by police from verious places.

Meanwhile, MLA Madhubhai Chavan and Prakash Shendage of Bharatiya Janata Party were eagar to go to Miraj, but police sent them back to Mumbai from Kolhapur Air Port.

Tension prevailed in Miraj and Sangli when police took action against violent agitators during the shutdown continuing from the last four days by Shiv Sena, BJP and other Hindu organisations.

Shops and cinema theatres remained closed in the city but rickshaw and bus services were not affected. In the morning, leaders like Rambhau Chavan, Subhash Vora gathered with their supporters at Shivaji Chowk of Kolhapur and started giving slogans against the 'role of police in Miraj riots.'
