In March, the department had raised a few objections to KU's balancesheet and did not pass the budget proposal though the university had approved it.

The council, in its meeting on Tuesday chaired by vice-chancellor Lt Gen (retd) DDS Sandhu, decided to give a minority status to Guru Harkrishan Sahib Khalsa College, Panjokhra Sahib, as per directions of the government. The Government College for Girls, Ambala, was provided provisional affiliation to the KU.

A total of the other and 63 items were listed for discussion. The council approved extension of Prof Girish Chopra as dean, academic affairs, for one year.

The university disaffiliated the Shree Ram Institute of Business Management Studies at Urjani village in Yamunanagar district for irregularities and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Metis Degree College, Anta, Safidon, for repeatedly violating university norms.

The services of 16 assistant professors recruited in 2012 were confirmed. The promotions of seven associate professors as professors under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) were approved.
