Kunal Ghosh threatens suicide before judge

The suspended TMC Rajya Sabha MP, Kunal Ghosh, who is in jail for year for his involvement in the Saradha scam, threatened suicide in front of a judge on Monday unless the influential people named in the scam are not arrested within 72 hours.

The suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Kunal Ghosh, who is in jail for year for his involvement in the Saradha scam, threatened suicide in front of a judge on Monday unless the influential people named in the scam are not arrested within 72 hours.

“The probe by CBI seems to biased and investigation process seems to have been influenced. Influential people named in the scam are not being arrested. If they are not arrested within the next 72 hours, I will commit suicide,” Ghosh said in front of a judge in a city court where he produced on Monday.

Ghosh was the media chief executive officer (CEO) of the erstwhile media houses run by Saradha Group. Besides Ghosh, the other names that appear in the CBI chargesheet include Saradha Group chief, Sudipta Sen and his close associate Debjani Mukherjee. The names of the companies whose appeared in the list included Saradha Tours and Travels, Saradha Constructions, Saradha Gardens, Saradha Realty and Strategy Media Ltd.

This is the second time that Ghosh has threatened suicide. Earlier in May this year, he wrote a letter, copies of which were forwarded to the vice president, Hamid Ansari, West Bengal chief secretary, Sanjay Mitra- among others, where he also threatened to commit suicide unless he gets justice within the next days.

In the letters he claimed that he a pray of political conspiracy and he was just an employee of Saradha Group have no connection with the bigger scam conducted by the group.

“What is going on in the name of investigations into the Saradha scam is nothing but a farce. I am being made a scapegoat to save the guilty. If I am framed in any other case, I shall immediately start a hunger strike unto death. Not only will I do this, I shall also commit suicide on May 20. This is not a threat. I am simply informing everybody. I am not doing so in an attempt to get release. I simply want that the charges leveled against me be properly investigated and I get justice," Ghosh said in that letter.
