Kurukshetra shows marked improvement in sex ratio

Owing to efforts made on war-footing and actions taken in time-bound manner for improving sex ratio, Kurukshetra district has now achieved 8th position from the lowest 19th rank by ensuring 888 females per 1000 males in the state as compared to 751 females per 1000 males in 2011.

Stating this, Nikhil Gajraj, deputy commissioner of Kurukshetra, said improving sex ratio and saving the girl child was a mission and society should come forward with healthy mindset for further progress in this direction.

The DC directed the health authorities to ensure close watch on all the 58 ultrasound centres in the district for curbing the crime of sex determination and female foeticide.

On Thursday night, the deputy commissioner was present in a Khula Darbar with a team of the district officers for presiding over an administrative night halt for on-the-spot disposal of public grievances at Bodhala village in the district. In order to maintain democratic values and transparency in the rural development works, videography would be ensured in all gram sabhas for the first time, the DC added.

During the night halt, the district administration disposed of 51complaints and issued 51 driving licences besides 25 Aadhaar cards. For adequate and smooth supply of power, Bodhala village would be connected with 33 KV power station soon, the DC stated.

Additional deputy commissioner Yash Garg, Thanesar SDM Ashok Bansal and other district officers were also present on the occasion.
