Lakhvi planned and executed 26/11: Abu Jundal

Jundal was the only Indian who was part of the planning and execution of the Mumbai attacks.

In the meeting, all the top LeT commanders in Pakistan, decided to have a ‘more aggressive’ anti-India approach. It was in this meeting that the old strategy to plant bombs was put on the back burner in favour of a more aggressive fidayeen attack. Sources said it was this meeting in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan where the seeds of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks were sown.

Lakhvi, according to Jundal, was involved in the 26/11 terror plot since its inception and was also closely involved in the training of the 10 terrorists in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan. Jundal told the crime branch that Lakhvi monitored the plot’s progress on a regular basis, sources said. Though Jundal came into the picture much later, he came to know about the meeting through other LeT operatives.

It was Lakhvi’s call to include Jundal in the training from August 2008. His role was to teach Hindi to the 10 terrorists involved in the attack. Lakhvi thought Jundal was the most aggressive Indian operative in the LeT fold present in Pakistan.

Both Jundal and Ajmal Kasab, the Pakistani terrorist, who was arrested during the terror attack, in their statement admitted Jundal along with three others, Abu Hamza, Abu Kafa and Lakhvi, had come to see off the 10 terrorists at the Karachi port, before they left for Mumbai.

Over 160 people were killed and over 300 injured in the multiple attacks by 10 Pakistani terrorists in 2008 in the city.
