Lalu Prasad personally appeared in the special CBI court of judge Sanjay Prasad to submit his passport, which was released May 5 to allow him to go to Singapore and Malaysia on an official trip May 11-18.

"The court had directed me to personally appear to submit passport. I have come here to submit my passport," the minister told reporters.

Lalu Prasad is accused in five cases, parts of a multi-million rupee fodder scam. He was sent to judicial custody three times. The trial is going on in the special CBI court here.

Lalu Prasad had submitted his passport to the court for the first time in 1997. The CBI court had released his passport three times earlier to let him go abroad.
