Two landmines, planted by militants, were detected and defused by security personnel outside Qazigund and Tekun polling stations.

Militants lobbed a grenade at a security picket at Khanabal-Pahalgam road which missed the target and exploded on the roadside.

Ultras attacked residences of sitting National Conference Lok Sabha member from this constituency Ali Maohammad Naik and CPI leader A R Takroo in Tral area of Pulwama district but no casualty was reported, official sources said.

Kulgam police station and an Special Operation Group camp came under grenade attacks last night but no loss of life or damage to property was reported.

Unprecedented security arrangements have been made for elections in Anantnag where militants carried out several attacks on contestants and rallies during electioneering.

PDP chief and party candidate Mehbooba Mufti, former union minister and independent candidate Mohammad Maqbool Dar, BJP candidate Sofi Mohammad Yousuf and another independent candidate Ramesh Kumar escaped bids on their lives but the attacks claimed four lives and injured several people.
