Sri Lanka's new Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollegama on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here and is understood to have apprised him about the current situation in the island nation.

The status of the peace process and Sri Lankan government's efforts are believed to have come up for discussions during the 30-minute meeting.

Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and National Security Adviser MK Narayanan were also present during the meeting, PMO sources said.

The meeting of Bogollegama, who made New Delhi as his first foreign halt after his new assignment, comes close on the heels of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake's meeting with Singh on Monday here.

Bogollegama was appointed Foreign Minister by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a reshuffle replacing Mangala Samaraweera earlier this week.
