A Sri Lankan national has been arrested at the airport here on charges of concealing 800 grams of gold valued at over Rs 14 lakh, custom authorities said today.

The passenger, on arrival from Colombo yesterday, failed to declare possession of eight gold bars and a search revealed that he had concealed the valuable in his rectum, a customs release said.

The seized gold was valued at Rs 14,83,200.
The passenger confessed that he had concealed the gold for a pecuniary consideration and with an intention to avoid customs duty, the release added.
