Prem Nath (35) along with his son Suresh Kumar (10) had gone to the forest early this morning in Pakkharkote Tanga area of the district when militants intercepted and abducted them, a police officer said.

On getting the information, police and army troops jointly launched a search operation, the officer said. Militants have increased their activities in the district in view of the Lok Sabha elections. The district will go to polls in second phase of elections on April 23.

This is the third incident of militancy in past two days.

On Saturday, two militants were killed and a girl injured during an encounter with security forces at a village in the district, around 160 km from Jammu.
