Lawyers stage chakka jam

SEVERAL LAWYERS of the District Court, Allahabad, staged a chakka jam near Chaurasi Khamba at the Collectorate demanding re-election of District Court Bar Association. Besides, some lawyers also observed fast in front of the Library of District Bar Association and held a meeting there raising the same demand. The tribunal constituted to resolve the deadlock over the Bar election has said that there should be an argument over the objections of some candidates on January 18, 2006 and the elected office-bearers along with others .

SEVERAL LAWYERS of the District Court, Allahabad, staged a chakka jam near Chaurasi Khamba at the Collectorate demanding re-election of District Court Bar Association.

Besides, some lawyers also observed fast in front of the Library of District Bar
Association and held a meeting there raising the same demand.

The tribunal constituted to resolve the deadlock over the Bar election has said that there should be an argument over the objections of some candidates on January 18, 2006 and the elected office-bearers along with others, who had raised objections, may take part in it, if they desire so.

The tribunal comprises of three lawyers of district court namely Syed Rahman Ali, Gajadar Prasad Mishra and Vijendra Pandey.

The tribunal has said that one defeated candidate Rajendra Srivastava has moved an affidavit before the tribunal.

“If the elected candidate wished to file reply of this affidavit, they may do so within two days,” the tribunal members said.
