Nagar Swasthya Adhikari Dr BBS Rathore and Acting Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar taking note of the confusion in maintenance of records at the LMC office expressed shock when he was told by the LMC officials that only 40 per cent of Lucknowites registered births and deaths and the co-operations of hospitals in maintaining records was vital.

Some hospitals exploit patients by asking them to pay a heavy sum for a provisionary birth certificate and usually patients have to themselves, obtain the registration certificates from the hospitals and submit them at the LMC.
Nagar Swasthya Adhikari Dr BBS Rathore says it is important the LMC take punitive action against hospitals that do not abide by the LMC directive.

Imposition of a heavy fine would be evident if the hospitals do not follow rules,” said Rathore. He added, “We are taking up the matter seriously now. We have written several times to erring hospitals in the past but they have not paid any heed to our notices. The common man has been suffering because of this.”
