"As the laboratory test of samples of the soft drink has revealed that it contained toxic substances, Government should take immediate steps to close down the unit at Plachimada," CPI(M) politbureau member and Opposition leader in the Assembly, VS Achuthanandan told reporters after a LDF liaison committee meeting in Thiruvananthapuram.
Outlining the decisions taken at the meeting, Achuthanandan said that the LDF would support and give directions to the LDF Palakkad unit to organise agitations for the closure of the unit. Later, the agitation would be extended to other parts of the state, he added.
When asked whether the LDF was demanding a ban of sale of Coca Cola in the state, he said that it was for the Government to take necessary steps in the matter.
