Political leaders tried to sneak into Noida and reach Bhatta-Parsaul on Tuesday morning despite all entry points of Noida being sealed to prevent further escalation of violence.
This caused traffic jams and daily commuters were seen struggling to get to offices.
Samajwadi Party leaders Shivpal Singh Yadav, Mohan Singh and JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav were detained at DND Flyway, while BJP's Rajnath Singh was stopped at Noida Gate, causing unending queues of vehicles on both stretches.
Despite deployment of police forces at all possible points, there was no system put in place to deal with snarls across the city.
Shivpal Yadav demanded formation of a high-level committee comprising judges to sort out the land compensation issue. He also demanded dismissal of the state government. He accused the government of being anti-farmers.
On the other hand, Mohan Singh demanded a judicial inquiry into the firing incident at Bhatta.
He alleged that the state government was buying land at cheaper rates from farmers and selling them to private developers at high premiums.
"If I were Mayawati, I would have resigned by now," said Rajnath Singh as he was arrested.

{{/usCountry}}"We want the land acquisition act to be debated in Parliament. Till then, land should not be acquired forcefully," he added. However, he was released after an hour.
Singh condemned the firing incident at Bhatta and blamed state government.
He also appealed to farmers not to resort to violence.
He requested them to fight for the cause democratically.
Around 200 Congress activists led by Virendra Dhada started a march towards Bhatta from Jewar. As they moved around, police stopped them. They were taken to the police lines and later released.
"Why did the district administration allow the situation to worsen so much. Why negotiations were not held properly," asked Dhada.
