The Left parties would press the government to amend the Special Economic Zone Act and seek a cut in petroleum prices besides demanding tabling of the women's reservation bill in the coming session of Parliament at the UPA-Left Coordination Committee meeting on Monday.
"On the entire question of SEZs, we want the government to bring in amendments", CPI(M) politburo member Sitarm Yechury said.
The parties, which provide outside support to the UPA coalition, feel the SEZ Act should be amended to lay down the maximum area that can be allotted to a SEZ and increase the compensation to be paid to farmers whose land was acquired.
They also want an increase in the proportion of the processing area of the zones.
Another major issue to be raised by Left parties at the meeting is bringing down the prices of petrol and diesel in the wake of a fall in global crude prices.
"We want them to tell us why the prices of petrol cannot be reduced because the international prices have fallen," Yechury said.
The Left want the government to roll back the hike in prices of petrol and diesel by at least Rs 4 and Rs 2 respectively following the slide in global crude prices from $71 to $57-58 now.

{{/usCountry}}CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat had earlier this month written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking a review in price hike.
However, the government has made it clear that prices of petrol and diesel will not be cut immediately as international crude prices have not gone down to the extent that will warrant such a step and oil companies continue to make losses even after the recent fall.
