According to Contactmusic, the musical will play a world premiere, pre-Broadway engagement in San Francisco at The Orpheum Theatre in January 2007.

Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, who makes his Broadway directorial debut, will also choreograph the musical version of the 2001 Resse Witherson starrer. Music and lyrics are penned by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keef.
