Madni, brought on a transit remand to Kolkata yesterday in connection with a case relating to seizure of fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 60,000, would be produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Bankshal Court here later today.
Police said Madni's name came to the fore following the arrest of four persons in connection with a fake currency racket here. Mohd Mohibur Rahman, Tofazzel Hossain, Ram Dhiraj Ram and Ajit Kumar, who were apprehended on May seven allegedly with the fake currency, had named Madni as one of their associates.
A resident of Bihar, 50-year-old Madni, who acquired Nepalese citizenship, was arrested in New Delhi on June four on the charge of acting as recruitment agent of the Pakistan- based terror group.
