The burglary had occurred at the house of Devendra Singh Raghuvanshi, an Inspector with the Crime Branch at his Arera Colony house when he had gone to Sagar. The jewellery and cash worth over Rs 80,000 were stolen from the house.

Raghuvanshi had given a tip-off to Habibganj police that was conducting investigation about the suspect. Subsequently, the person was interrogated and the officials at the police station felt that he was not involved and allowed him to go.

However, a Crime Branch team, including almost half-a-dozen policemen caught the same suspect, Prakash alias Bablu, 21, resident of Indira Nagar, again. Police on Friday said Prakash confessed to committing to the theft at the house of the Inspector with a co-accused.

Complainant probes his case!
THE INCIDENT is strange in the sense that the ‘victim’ got the opportunity to investigate the case. Strangely, there are major burglaries worth several lakhs in the capital but it is rare that such a case is handed over to Crime Branch and a big team is constituted to solve a case of this type.

The burglary had occurred at the house of Crime Branch Inspector DS Raghuvanshi. He was part of the team that was constituted to solve the case after the Habibganj police gave a clean chit to the person named as suspect by him. Strangely, the Crime Branch team comprising the complainant caught the person again and the person confessed to the crime. The Crime Branch promptly managed to secure most of the stolen jewellery and cash as well.
