Indians might be feeling wronged by a few debatable umpiring decisions in the first Test that they lost by a huge margin in Bangalore on Sunday but Australian skipper Adam Gilchrist stoutly defended the men in black, saying they should be given the "benefit of doubt".
Gilchrist admitted that India were more at the receiving end of tough decisions but cited instances during the 2001 series when he claimed some decisions had gone against his side and said one had to get on with these.
"We have to get on with it. I don't remember reading on day three (of Kolkata Test in 2001) about Harbhajan's hattrick... I don't remember reading about certain dubious lbw decisions (against us)," said the wicketkeeper batsman.
"You have to accept it. Let's not blame umpires. I can understand the frustration of the Indian team but let's give them (umpires) the benefit of doubt. We have to move on," he said.
He said umpires must have had a tough time concentrating amid the din at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
"The noise out there was extraordinary. You have no idea.... It's a very, very difficult job."
