Such a meeting has become imperative in the changed situation arising out of the emergence of Congress as the largest political party after the Lok Sabha elections, according to CPI state Secretary Manju Majumder.

He said that the national-level meeting of the Left parties would be held in the midst of the CPI(M) politburo and the Central Committee meetings in Delhi on May 15 and 16.

Stating that his party CPI was not 'vehemently' opposed to the question of supporting a Congress-led Government at the Centre, Majumder said that CPI National Executive meet was scheduled for May 15 and 16 to finalise the party's stand on the issue.

The Forward Bloc Central Committee and RSP Central Committee would meet in Delhi on May 15, 16 and 17 to urgently discuss the post-poll situation and decide on the need to change the stand on Congress.

He said that his party felt that the Congress' policy on secularism was not 'much clear', besides it had been 'blindly' following the IMF diktats.
