Air chief marshal NAK Browne on Wednesday said the rescue operations would continue till all the stranded had been moved to safety. He was in Uttarakhand to boost the morale of rescuers following Tuesday's chopper crash which left 20 dead.
"Our rotors won’t stop, we owe it to our men who died. NDRF, ITBP and our men have done an outstanding job," he said while on his way to Gauchar to oversee rescue operations there.
"Like in a war, we have to keep moving," he said and told a news channel in reply to a question that he had told his men "to keep smiling".
The main objective was to rescue each and every person stranded in the rain-ravaged Uttarakhand, he said and added, "Our men are highly trained and motivated. They are doing a great job. They are going ahead with their mission to save lives. It will continue till all the stranded have been taken to safer locations."
He expressed sorrow on the helicopter tragedy which resulted in the death of eight officers along with others at Guarikund on Tuesday. Meanwhile, four more bodies have been recovered by the IAF commandos near the crash site in Gaurikund. There were 20 people on board the ill-fated chopper.
