Lionbridge Tech to open second centre in India
US-based Lionbridge Technologies will expand its offshore operations with a new solution centre in Chennai.
Buoyed by the success of its Mumbai centre, US-based Lionbridge Technologies will expand its offshore operations with a new solution centre in Chennai.
The new solution centre in Chennai builds on the success of the company's Mumbai operation which includes approximately 1,000 highly skilled engineering and content development professionals with expertise in application development and eLearning courseware solutions.
Lionbridge Chennai will initially host approximately 200 developers, test engineers, and project managers with plans for additional expansion as client activities scale, the company announcement said.
"This expansion into Chennai underscores the strength and scale of our offshore delivery capabilities. The integration of our Mumbai, India operation has been a terrific success as we continue to benefit from their high level of process excellence, efficiency and quality delivery. The opening of Lionbridge Chennai reflects our confidence in the value that our offshore solutions bring to our customers and our organization," Satish Maripuri, chief operating officer, Lionbridge, was quoted as saying.
The Chennai solution centre will also include a comprehensive testing lab for Lionbridge's VeriTest testing division, which provides independent quality assurance and software testing services to enterprise organisations worldwide. The solution centre will enable Lionbridge and VeriTest to meet increasing demand for cost-efficient application development, content development and testing solutions.
Lionbridge also announced the appointment of V. Lalitha as director of testing and Major Vishwanath as director of development.
"We are delighted to have high calibre professionals such as V. Lalitha and Major Vishwanath to manage our Chennai operation," Jay Sitaram, general manager, Lionbridge India, said.
