Live poll webcasts a hit among citizens

For the first time, the district administration webcast live poll proceedings from 50 sensitive polling booths across the city—a big step towards ensuring transparency during polls. Watching the live telecast of the elections was also a consolation for some who missed out on the action themselves. All polling booths at Raj Kumar Academy polling station were connected to the Internet.

Besides giving access to the common people, the initiative also helped the observers and polling officials to keep a close watch. There were some technical glitches in the live streaming but by and large, the idea adopted first time was a success. Like the Raj Kumar Academy, the polling was also streamed from all booths in the Shia PG College in Khadra, Red Hill School in Gokhale Marg and Harishchandra Inter College, to name a few. “It was done across the state to ensure transparency during polls, especially at sensitive booths,” deputy district election officer OP Arya confirmed.
