The Supreme Court on Tuesday endorsed that there was nothing illegal in live-in relationships and premarital sex between consenting adults. HT City spoke to some celebs who’ve been in such relationships.

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, who was in a live-in relationship with actress Ameesha Patel, is thrilled at the SC remark. “Marriage is an outdated institution with no security. A true relationship is devoid of social and personal pressures. It has less emotional breakdowns, but it comes with responsibilities,” he says.

“Live-ins and premarital sex have always been there. The legal nod just means that the law now accepts the basics of human needs and nature,” says actress Archana Puran Singh, who lived-in with actor Parmeet Sethi for years before they got married.

TV show host Pooja Bedi, who was in a live-in with choreographer Hanif Hilal, has a stand against any kind of moral policing. “Who is anybody to judge if two people want to stay together?” she asks, but goes on to add, “A live-in requires serious commitment. And now with the Supreme Court backing it, it is no longer frivolous.”
