THE ALLAHABAD High Court has taken one more step to resolve civic and traffic problems that the city is facing.

It has directed the district magistrate, Allahabad, to look into reasons for traffic snarls in front of St Mary’s Convent Girls’ School on Kanpur Road, near the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC), on Thornhill Road and in front of other institutions.
The court asked the DM to hold a meeting with the principal, St Mary’s Convent Girls’ School and the secretary, UPPSC, in this regard.
Responding to a PIL filed by social worker Anand Mohan, a Division Bench of Justice AK Yog and Justice SK Jain passed the order when SK Garg, convenor of a high court-appointed committee, briefed the court about the traffic mess. The court also directed Garg to obtain views and suggestions of the school principal and the UPPSC secretary in the matter.
On beautifying Allahabad parks, the court directed the district administration to ensure that the nagar nigam and the Allahabad Development Authority took proper care before installing statues. The beauty and ambience of parks should not be destroyed or damaged, the Bench said.
On the damaged boundary wall of Girls’ Government Intermediate College (GGIC), Civil Lines, the court directed the DM to ensure that adequate and effective fencing was completed by December 21. The DM will also have to submit the report to the court on December 21.
