Two `panchaloha' idols and jewellery were stolen from the Lord Vishnu temple at Kanhangad in the district on Thursday, police said.

Police said that it was suspected that the robbers gained entry into the temple using a ladder and broke open the door of the sanctum sanctorum and took away the idols, a two sovereign gold chain and other temple articles.

The incident came to the notice of the priest when he reached the shrine for the morning poojas. The burglary comes barely a week after another temple situated at the nearby locality was burgled.
