Rising popularity of ten-pin bowling in the Millennium City has caught the eye of private developers too. So, if you are planning to move into a posh gated community, you can expect a private alley to spend your evenings at.
While corporate houses see it as a great team-building exercise, for most residents it is sheer enjoyment and a stress buster too.
Gurgaon got its first bowling alley in 1993 and there has been no looking back since then. And, builders are trying to cash in on this trend.
"We are going to set up two bowling alleys at Palm Springs in Sector 54 just off the Golf Course Road. With increasing popularity of this game, occupants will be able to enjoy it at their doorsteps," said Arjun Puri, director, Puri Constructions Private Limited.
First Bowl at 32nd Milestone complex just off the Gurgaon Expressway was the first bowling alley in the city. General manager Ashok Puri said, "In 1993, people used to come from Delhi as it was the only bowling alley. Now, apart from residents, a lot of corporate houses are also engaging with us."
The four-lane automated bowling alley is booked by various corporate houses four times a week, he added.

On the lines of Thailand's famous Blu-O, it enjoys a diverse clientele.
"From students to big companies, we get all kinds of people here who come over to relax and rejuvenate. In our busy lives, we hardly get time to chill and bowling is a great way to unwind," a Blu-O spokesperson said.
"Earlier, people used to consider it as a sport but it is coming up as a source of entertainment."
Aayush Mittal, a first year civil engineering student from Delhi who was enjoying his evening at Amoeba in MGF Mall, said, "It is fun, especially during the summers when it is hot outside. You laugh, tease and enjoy food with friends, unlike watching a movie."
