The state police would relax its norms to provide arms to forest personnel to protect wildlife and its conservation.
Informing this in Nagpur on Wednesday, PS Pasricha, the director general of police (DGP) and chairman of state Tiger Cell said that his department would be more realistic and pragmatic for giving license to forest personnel for monitoring and preventing poaching, smuggling and illegal trade in wildlife in the state.
Earlier, he held a state-level meeting of Tiger Cell at Van Bhavan where he assured all the members for a better co-ordination between the forest personnel and the state police to stop poaching and deal with the wildlife criminals.
The super cop of the state also announced that his department would start a compulsory course for police sub-inspector and other junior police personnel at the Police Academy at Nashik on nature conservation, importance of wildlife and environment, from this year.
