The apex court's decision to shift the hearing of the Madhumita Shukla murder case to Dehradun in Uttarakhand on Thursday has come only as a partial relief to the kin of the slain poet. "We pay full respect to the Supreme Court for shifting the trial outside UP. However, we are not sure about our safety as well as the safety of the witnesses in Uttarakhand as it makes little difference to the prime accused Amarmani Tripathi," said Shanti Devi, mother of Madhumita Shukla.

She further said she would appeal to the apex court again in consultation with her advocate to shift the hearing in a Delhi court or any part of south India where Amarmani could not muscle his influence.

Madhumita Shukla's sister, Nidhi Shukla also expressed similar sentiments and demanded to shift the prime accused Amarmani Tripathi to Tihar jail. Nidhi said Amarmani Tripathi could muster equal power in UP and Uttarakhand even from behind the bars.
