Women factory workers in Madhya Pradesh would be able to work in two shifts like their counterparts in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The state government will issue a notification in this regard in the next week.
"We want industrial growth and at the same time development of women in the state. For this, if women workers need to go for even three working shifts in industries, we will permit it," said Chief Minister Shrivraj Singh Chouhan after inaugurating a unit of Vardhaman Yarns at Madideep, on the outskirts of Bhopal, on Saturday.
Responding to a demand by Vardhaman Group Chairman S P Oswal, the chief minister said a notification allowing women to work two shifts in factories will be issued soon.
With a view to stepping up the pace of industrialization, he declared the revival of the state’s Industry Advisory Council, which has virtually become defunct.
The first meeting is being scheduled for April, he said. The CM inaugurated a spinning unit of Vardhaman Yarns established at a cost of Rs 250 crore.
Oswal said the government should step up building infrastructure to attract investments. It would not be difficult to attract investments worth Rs 25000 crore in the next ten years if infrastructure is built.
