Despite coming under a lot of criticism over its handling of the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, Apollo Hospital was on Wednesday let off the hook by the Delhi Police which said it was not keen to take action against it to avoid any "dilution" in the high-profile case.
After interrogating the doctors for the last two days on treatment given to Rahul upon his admission to the hospital last Friday, police said they would not like to undertake any "phenomenal exercise that would dilute the original case."
Police questioned the doctors of the premier private hospital after contradictory reports emanated from the hospital about the presence of drugs in the urine sample of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son.
A day after Apollo doctors gave a clean chit to Rahul stating that he had tested negative for all 14 identifiable drugs, they did an about-turn and talked about the presence of a cocktail of drugs.
