A family was travelling from Mumbai to Surat in a mini-van when its driver lost control and hit the divider. The vehicle then crossed to the other side of the road and collided with a private bus travelling from Gujarat to Mumbai, officials said.
The accident occurred at 4 am in Palghar district, police said.
Police are investigating whether the mini-van’s driver slept off at the wheel or whether the accident was caused by a mechanical error.
