Eight people were killed and three were injured when a Trax Cruiser jeep collided with a container-lorry on Pune-Bangalore highway near Satara in western Maharashtra on Monday night.
The accident took place near Khambatki tunnel, 45 km from Satara, at about 9.30pm.

The jeep was heading towards Pune, police said.
The injured persons were admitted to a hospital at Shirwal, police said, adding the victims were yet to be identified.
