A TORCHLIGHT procession was taken out by Mahila Manch activists to mark International Women’s Day on Wednesday.

The procession was taken out to express resentment against increasing incidents of crime against women. The Morcha activists carried placards demanding women empowerment.
Addressing the gathering, State president of the Morcha Neelam Chaturvedi exhorted women to come forward and accept the challenges. She also expressed her concern over the increasing incidents of crime against women in the State.
“There are several laws for the protection of women but none of them are implemented successfully,” added Chaturvedi.
Women could end violence against them by making a collective effort, Chaturvedi stressed.
District president of the Morcha, Shubshani Ali expressed her concern over rising prices of essential commodities.
