With two mall already making waves, one is all set to expand, a new mall coming up next month and three more malls set to come up in 2007 the city skyline will not be the same again.

First to set the trend, Wave East End mall is now expanding its shopping section along with a food court in September end. Essel Groups project, Fun Republic in Gomti Nagar is scheduled to open around Diwali, while Sahara Ganj is planning a festive season ahead.

“Coming Saturday we will open our extension which will have Westside, Globus and Landmark as anchor store. On the following day food court ‘Traffic’ will be inaugurated. Pub-and-lounge ‘Nashwa’—with a dance floor— will come up by Diwali. Besides we have special plans for kids and some theme-based festivals,” says Dheeraj Sharma manager operations Wave.

City Mall in Gomti Nagar scheduled for September next year, will come up with Big Bazaar as an anchor store, while the Movie Times will run the three-screen multiplex.

Singapore Mall also in the same locality will have three-screen cinema run by PVR, a discotheque, Spencer as hyper-store, Shoppers Stop as anchor store along with an entertainment zone. “The USP will be the book store Time Zone. Spread around 5000 sq ft, it will be a one-stop shop for bookworms,” says the owner. The Ladhani Group’s Riverside Mall (besides LDA new building) is also scheduled for next year opening.

That’s not all, Sahara has more project lined up. “Off Sitapur Road at our new township we are coming up with a mall with a totally new concept. Then, we are working on viability in Gomti Nagar and Sultanpur Road. But, most important is the participation of brands. With major players already now in the city the future plan have to be chalk out strategically.”
