Metro commuters will have to wait a few more months before they can shop or watch a movie at the mall-cum-entertainment centre coming up at the Huda City Centre station.
After missing two deadlines, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) ambitious project in Sector 29 is now likely to be ready by July this year. "There was a delay in issuing tenders for interior and other minor works. We would be ready with the building by June or July when all operations related to the mall, commercial, retail and other entertainment are ready to take off," said Daljit Singh, chief project manager, DMRC. Originally planned to be opened by October last year, the deadline was extended to February/March. Huda City Centre Metro station is the only station being developed as a mall using eco-friendly technology.
The six-floor building will have a Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) certification. The Metro station was opened last July while the mall portion was still under construction.
As per earlier plans, the building was to be handed over to a private developer who was supposed to install a 5MW capacity power sub-station.
