After the change, the challenge: chief minister-designate Mamata Banerjee and her council of ministers will begin their stint of governance with the oath at the Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Banerjee will have a 43-member council of ministers - one short of the Left Front government.
The Congress has finalised its participation. Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and union defence minister AK Antony visited Kolkata on Thursday along with Shakeel Ahmed, AICC general secretary in-charge of Bengal, to finalise the names.
The holders of prominent portfolios in Trinamool Congress will include Subrata Mukherjee, Partha Chatterjee, Subrata Bakshi, Manish Gupta and Amit Mitra from Banerjee's own parliamentary constituency - the South Kolkata Lok Sabha seat.
Party sources said Amit Mitra would be in charge of the finance portfolio and Subrata Mukherjee of urban development. From north Kolkata, senior legislator Sadhan Pande and Bratya Basu would get cabinet berths.
"There are more ministers from the rural areas compared to the urban belt," said a senior Trinamool leader.
"After all, majority of the legislators are from the rural assembly segments."

Now, a biopic on Mamata
Even as Mamata Banerjee gets ready to become West Bengal's first woman chief minister, efforts are on to give her a larger-than-life persona.
At first there were reports of a jatra, the state's popular folk theatre form, being made on the TMC chief, and now, filmmaker Goutam Ghose is planning a documentary on her.
"The film is about Mamata, the woman, and not about her party," said Ghose.
